Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains which personal data Fatekissed processes, why we do so, and which rights you have.

1. Data controller

Fatekissed, the trade name of a sole proprietorship, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 83569340, is responsible for processing your personal data. Contact: [email protected].

2. What data we process

Account data. Your name, your email address, an encrypted (hashed) password, your language preference, your preferences (such as genres and notification settings), which adventures you have bought, the access code used, and the moments at which you accepted the terms and this policy.

Game and content data. Your characters and their data, your play sessions with their world state, and the full story history you build together with the AI narrator (both your input and the generated responses). Also any feedback you give (a rating and an optional comment).

Technical and log data. Your IP address, browser information (user agent), session data, and security and activity logs (audit logs). We also keep aggregated AI usage (token counts and estimated costs), without the content of your story.

Payment data. If you buy an adventure, the payment is handled by Mollie. We receive confirmation of the transaction but do not store full payment details ourselves (such as your card or account number).

3. Purposes and legal bases

• Providing the service (managing your account, playing, saving progress, processing payments): performance of the contract with you.
• Security, fraud prevention and tackling misuse (logs, IP address, audit): our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and reliable.
• Improving the service and usage statistics (see section 5): our legitimate interest. You can object to this.
• Communication (emails about your account, email verification, password recovery, and optional notifications): performance of the contract, or your consent for optional messages.
• Legal obligations (such as keeping payment records): compliance with a legal duty.

4. AI processing and who handles your story

To make the AI narrator work, we send your input, your character data, the world state and the relevant story history to the AI service(s) that generate the responses. For this we work with external AI providers, currently OpenRouter, Anthropic, Google and DeepSeek (depending on the chosen model). These parties process the data to generate the requested output.

Some of these parties may process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. In doing so we ensure appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

For this reason, do not enter sensitive personal data (about yourself or others) or confidential information while playing.

5. Usage statistics (analytics)

We may use a privacy-friendly analytics service (PostHog, with servers in the EU) to understand how the service is used and to improve it. This happens on the server side and without tracking cookies. It is limited to a few events (such as signing up, your first play moment and giving feedback), linked to your account, your name and your language. We do not share the free text of your feedback in this. The legal basis is our legitimate interest; you can object via [email protected].

6. Cookies and local storage

Fatekissed uses only functional cookies and local storage that are needed to operate. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. For that reason no cookie consent banner is required.

• Session cookie: remembers your session and login status.
• XSRF-TOKEN (cookie): protects forms against forged requests.
• remember_token (cookie): keeps you optionally logged in.
• Music preference (local storage in your browser): remembers whether you turned the music on or off. This value is not sent to our servers.

To display them, some pages load fonts via Google Fonts. In doing so, Google receives your IP address. No cookies are placed for this.

7. Sharing with third parties and transfers

Besides the AI providers and analytics service mentioned above, we work with the following processors:

• Mollie (handling payments, EU);
• Mailgun (sending email, EU servers);
• DigitalOcean (hosting and storage of images and music, data centre in Amsterdam);
• Google Fonts (fonts for display; Google receives your IP address).

We do not sell your data. We share it with these processors only as far as needed to provide the service, or when the law requires us to. Where data is processed outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards.

8. Retention periods

• We keep account and game data for as long as you have an account.
• If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except for data we are legally required to keep longer.
• We keep payment and invoice data for the statutory retention period (in the Netherlands usually seven years).
• We keep log and audit data no longer than necessary for security and administration.

9. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, such as storing passwords in encrypted form, secured connections and access restrictions. No service is entirely without risk. If you notice anything suspicious, please report it to [email protected].

10. Your rights

You have the right to:

• access your data;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data deleted;
• restrict the processing or object to it;
• receive your data in a portable format (data portability);
• withdraw consent you previously gave.

Send your request to [email protected]. We respond within the statutory period. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

11. Children

Fatekissed is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If we discover that this has happened, we delete the data.

12. Changes to this policy

We may amend this privacy policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date of the last change at the top. We will inform you of important changes.
